Krones to unveil latest innovations

Integrated bottling and packaging systems manufacturer Krones is
launching a number of new products including a PET-Asept system
featuring Isolator technology and a new VO-DM-PET volumetric
filling system for water.

The German-based company is set to unveil these latest packaging equipment products at BevExpo, which runs from the 29 September to 1 October 2004 in Florida, USA.

Krones PET-Asept filling system for cold aseptic filling of high- and low-acid products in plastic containers features Isolator technology, an air-tight sealed tunnel system that surrounds only the bottle path. It was developed to ensure microbiological safety while providing simplified handling for the users.

The company claims that a sterile atmosphere is maintained in the Isolator via HEPA filters. An Isolator is used instead of a conventional cleanroom, which minimizes the size and cost of the system.

The PET-Asept System includes a sterilizer, rinser, filler, and capper in a BLOC configuration -- all connected by neck-handling starwheels.

Krones' new VO-DM-PET volumetric filling system for water is the second big innovation.Utilising flow meters, diaphragm valves, and electro-pneumatic controls for all phases of the filling process, the company says that the new concept provides accurate filling of non-carbonated water.

The smooth, hygienic product path ensures easy cleaning. And, the neck handling system guarantees gentle treatment of lightweight PET bottles. Another version of this filler is available with base support.

The company also recently unveiled what it claims is a complete package of after-sale customer care for bottlers and plant managers. The service covers everything from installation and commissioning through to training, parts, preventative maintenance and line optimisation.

Under the lifecycle service programme, stock spare parts can be shipped within 24 hours, and handling parts can be shipped within six weeks. Emergency parts are also available. Krones claims that over 90 per cent of its replacement and handling parts are manufactured on site.

Comprehensive component rebuild, repair, and exchange services are also available under the programme. Krones intends to extend its lifecycle service initiative to provide adhesives and other consumable products, specifically engineered to work with Krones equipment.

The service also includes an important IT component, developed by Syskron, the group's IT division. A newly developed line tuning service allows Krones to analyse a company's bottling or packaging line, diagnose weak points, and then present and implement solutions to optimise processes.
