Tear tape manufacturer P P Payne's has supplied its VaktapePlus to seal packaging on ham for French delicatessen products manufacturer Chevallier.

The tape is being used on packs of Chevallier's well-known French quality hams, 'Jambon de Bayonne,' which is currently sold under the brand name Grand Adour.

P P Paynes claims that its VaktapePlus offers a unique tear tape system for opening hermetically sealed packs which combines easy opening with airtight pack freshness. The 3mm tape is manufactured from a high strength specialised film, which offers greater strength, better print quality and even easier opening for consumers. In addition, its revised adhesive formulation has all direct food contact approvals.

For added consumer convenience and on-shelf impact, Chevallier has selected a tape with a red arrow motif to highlight the direction of opening.

Long reel lengths and a specially designed applicating system are said to offer speedy and reliable dispensing over long production runs. To demonstrate the tape's functionality on Chevallier's production lines, P P Payne arranged free trials at the company's site in Sauveterre de Béarn, in the Bayonne region.

"We were impressed with the quality of P P Payne's service as well as its tear tape," commented Mme Daquet of Chevallier. "We are always looking at ways to improve the quality of our packaging, and VaktapePlus will further enhance the premium image and consumer convenience of the 'Jambon de Bayonne' range."
