As the European Union is poised to adopt some of the most stringent regulations on labelling and traceability of genetically modified (GM) products, a conference is being organised by Cert ID to help food manufacturers respond to the challenges of GMO traceability.

The Non-Gmo Traceability Conference is a free half-day event which will be held in Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom this October.

"The EU's new Regulations will have far-reaching effects and consequences for all companies who produce, supply, or use products that could have been produced from a potential GM origin," said Cert ID managing director, Richard Werran. "Food and feed operators will want to make the right choices to avoid potentially serious consequences and brand damage in the future. Our Non-GMO Traceability Conference aims to educate companies so they make the right choices."

Cert ID's Non-GMO Traceability Conference will address major concerns facing food and feed manufacturers. Conference topics will include: Overview of the new GMO and traceability regulations and what they mean in practical terms; Brazil and GMOs - what does the future hold?; Latest advances in DNA detection technologies; and Limits of detection and quantification.

Delegates can choose from two Free Conference options at each location with one focusing on food and the other on feed. In addition, the Free Conferences will provide opportunities for delegates to meet other industry professionals in retail and manufacturing and make contacts with suppliers of Cert ID certified products.

The Non-GMO Traceability Conference locations and dates include - Germany: Osnabruck (Feed) - Monday, October 20 and Frankfurt (Food) - Tuesday, October 21; Benelux: Antwerp (Food) - Wednesday, October 22 and Antwerp (Feed) - Thursday, October 23; Italy: Milan (Food) - Friday, October 24 and Milan (Feed) - Monday, October 27; France: Paris (Food) - Tuesday, October 28 and Paris (Feed) - Wednesday, October 29; United Kingdom: Birmingham (Food) - Thursday, October 30 and Birmingham (Feed) - Friday, October 31.

Cert ID says it is offering the Non-GMO Traceability Conference based on the company's success and experience in enabling firms to produce certified non-GM products. Cert ID claims to be the most rigorous non-GMO traceability programme of its kind, and the most widely accepted worldwide. The organisation brings a HACCP approach to the supply of non-GMO products, and integrates full traceability with top-quality DNA-based GMO testing.
