Wrapping up the market

Packaging firm Surface Specialties has expanded its range of cavitated films. The successful launch of its first coated cavitated wrapping convinced the company that this is a market with potential to expand.

"The response from the market has been so positive that we have brought forward this expansion of the range," said Surface Specialties business manager Andy Walton.

Now two new films, Propafilm ROC and Propafilm FOC, have been introduced which Surface Specialties believes will give packers even more choice.

Propafilm ROC is a white cavitated biaxially oriented polypropylene film coated on both sides with a high gloss, wide seal range acrylic. The company claims that the film is ideal for form-fill-seal packaging for bakery, biscuit and confectionery products which require protection from moisture and aroma taint.

The opacity of the film means that it may also be used for collation overwrap with no show-through of the graphic design on unit packs or carton box.

Propafilm FOC has the same white cavitated BOPP core but is differentially coated on one side with acrylic and on the other with Surface Specialties' proprietary fast seal coating. This gives the film an exceptionally wide seal range and flexibility on horizontal flow wrapping machines.
