RPC bags two launches

RPC Containers, the UK-based supplier of rigid packaging, has begun to supply major European food manufacturer Geest with two ranges of tamper evident plastic packaging.

RPC won two respective contracts to supply Geest with packaging - firstly for a range of fresh chilled soups and secondly for a range of sauces - both of which use the company's custom-designed tamper-evident polypropylene pots.

RPC claims that its new pots are practical and convenient, as they are resealable and microwavable. They are also said to provide good stability both in retail chiller cabinets and the fridge.

The packs for the chilled soups are produced in contact clear polypropylene with highly decorated acetate labels, which is claimed to maximise their on-shelf appeal. Customer branding is reinforced by the embossing of the company logo around the rim of the pot.

"New packaging development is an important part of our innovation drive in this young market," explained Michelle Bailey, senior buyer at Geest. "We are offering consumers a convenient, user-friendly pack, while at the same time creating maximum brand impact."

RPC has at the same time supplied Geest with another range of tamper evident pots for its line of fresh sauces called Thor pots.

"The fresh sauces market currently offers a lot of potential for growth and development," added Bailey. "We chose the RPC Thor pot because we felt it gave us a practical and user-friendly pack."

The Thor pot is available in eight sizes from 180ml to 1150ml, with a wide choice of decoration options. The pots feature highly decorated labels, which are applied by RPC immediately after moulding to create an all-over decoration effect.
