Ilapak has launched an electronic flow-wrapper specifically designed to offer smaller manufacturers an efficient means of wrapping a variety of food products.

Ilapak says that the latest addition to its range is exceptionally versatile and can wrap food or non-food products either individually or in multiples.

The Carrera 500 PC is said to be a fully electronic flow-wrapper aimed at companies looking to boost productivity and increase the performance and efficiency of packaging operations.

Capable of production speeds of up to 100 packs a minute, the system has a variety of standard features designed to improve production line efficiency including no-product-no-bag and automatic size change.

The multi-axes horizontal, form, fill and seal (HFFS) machine is controlled by an industrial standard microprocessor, making, which is said to make it reliable and easy to use. Operation is carried out using a keypad and LCD display.

Ilapak claims that pack quality is another important advantage of the system, which has rotary sealing jaws to ensure seal quality, thus enabling smaller companies to match the pack quality usually associated with larger organisations using more expensive equipment.

Specifically designed to offer high hygiene standards together with easy access for cleaning and maintenance, the system is constructed using stainless steel contact parts.

The Carrera 500 PC is said to use most types of heat-sealable films such as polypropylene, laminates, co-extruded films, as well as most cold-seal films. It is capable of producing pack sizes of between 80-500mm in length, 20-230mm in width and up to 120mm in height.

The UK-based Ilapak Group is an international organisation which produces and supplies packaging machines and automatic feeding systems on a world-wide basis. The company's manufacturing operation consists of four independent units each with its own team of experts dedicated to a specific machine type.
