One of the premier events for the food and beverage processing and packaging industry is about to get under way in Cologne, Germany tomorrow. The Anuga FoodTec will feature many of the leading names in the business and the FoodProductionDaily.com team will be there to ensure that you won't miss anything.

The event is being billed by its organisers as a platform for international dialogue between the food technology sector and the food industry. With the industry's range now extending across every conceivable raw materials and process, the key aims is to meet the market's requirements for flexible solutions, visions, and innovations for the highest demands in food and beverage processing.

The Anuga FoodTec expo is held every three years by Koelnmesse and the German Agricultural Society. The organisers claim that the three-year rotation ties in well with the innovation cycle of the sector.

The last time the event was held, in April 2000, Anuga FoodTec underlined its claim as the pilot fair for the international food technology sector. Some 1,059 companies from 37 countries (of which 50 per cent were from outside Germany) exhibited at the show. And around 36,000 food technology experts from 111 countries (foreign share: over 50 per cent) came along to get themselves up to speed with all the latest industry innovations.

The organisers claim that at past Anuga events the high proportion of both exhibitors and visitors from abroad has confirmed the dynamism of Cologne as a world meeting point for the industry.

The main focus of the Anuga FoodTec will include process technologies such as mixing and emulsifying technologies, filling systems, refrigeration and operating logistics. It will also be focusing on packaging technology, with machinery labelling and materials all being featured. Other important areas will include automation, food safety and quality management, environmental technology and bio-engineering.

Companies that have confirmed their presence at the show include DS Smith, Serac, Sidel, Barco Machine Vision, Rexnord, FMC and KHS.

The FoodProductionDaily.com team will be bringing you daily reports from the show, bringing you up to date on all the latest technologies, innovations and industry trends.
