One of the UK's leading sauce manufacturers has contracted Moody Systems to design, install and commission two tubular pasteurisation systems, to the value of £750,000 (€1.13m).

Moody claims that the process plant, which incorporates two tubular heat exchangers with fully automated pigging systems, will introduce substantial savings on process time, as well as the added benefit of improvements in the quality of the finished product.

The tubular heat exchanger is said to be especially beneficial for products with vegetable pieces or chunks, as it will reduce the damage to these and therefore create the much-desired authentic appearance to the finished product.

Moody Systems technical manager Peter Kirk said: "We have introduced this process system to several customers recently, and find that the huge demand from end-users for quality produce in turn increases the pressure on manufacturers - the tubular heat exchanger can deliver quality finished products, and the manufacturers can satisfy the needs in the market".

The pigging system incorporated into the two plants is said to ensure product recovery, and the configuration and design of the system means that it needs virtually no maintenance - a matter of particular importance for a tubular plant this size, as at any given moment the plant may have up to six tons of finished product in the system.

Based in the UK, the Moody Group of companies serve the dairy, food, beverage, brewery and healthcare industries worldwide. Moody Systems supplies, rebuilds, installs and maintains production facilities.
