Swedish-based Frigoscandia Equipment, which provides freezing technology for the food processing industry, and since 1996 part of FMC FoodTech, has launched a new line at the IPA exhibition taking place in Paris this week.

According to Frigoscandia, the new 'M' series GYRoCOMPACT spiral freezers incorporate more than 217 improvements on the preceding spiral freezer. "A lot of innovation and customer feedback has gone into the design of this new series," said Torbjorn Arvidsson, president of Frigoscandia. "We've scrutinised every detail, finding every possible way to improve hygiene, reliability and overall operating economy."

The company claims that the 'M' series offers good uptime and freezing capacity due to the placement of the fans after the coil (dry side). With this fan placement snow or ice build-up on fans is avoided and fan guards for longer running time and a higher operating reliability.

One set of stands for all layouts are easy to retrofit and housing is prepared for common wall assembly with second a unit. Frigoscandia adds that the simplified belt take-up means less winding and a minimum of tension on the return rail for longer belt life, easier access for cleaning and good operating reliability.

"In our new M-series, we've taken the concept of cleanability beyond the freezing zone and applied it to the entire freezer," added Ingmar Pahlsson, Frigoscandia's product manager. "Many of our improvements focus on increased access to evaporators and other areas inside the freezer housing, in order to make thorough cleaning fast, easy and economical," he concluded.
