Crown Cork & Seal has opened its new state-of-the-art €40 million beverage can production facility in Seville, Spain.

Built to meet the growing demands of beverage producers across the Iberian Peninsula, the 36,000 square metre site will initially produce more than 750 million, 33cl two-piece beverage cans each year. With Spain and Portugal representing the third largest European can market, and enjoying double-digit growth since the mid-1990s, the Seville facility has been designed to allow for future expansion in the region.

"This investment demonstrates Crown's commitment to meet the needs of local, regional and global customers," said John Conway, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer. "With an existing beverage plant in Northern Spain, our investment in Seville gives us excellent geographic coverage in one of the fastest growing markets in Western Europe."

The addition of the Seville facility expands the reach of Crown's European beverage can business to eight countries. From Crown's 12 production sites, the company supplies 2-piece aluminum and steel beverage cans to multinational, regional and local customers.

US-based Crown Cork & Seal is a leading supplier of packaging products to consumer marketing companies around the world. World headquarters are located in Philadelphia, US.
