A start-up company, USA Yeast is progressing with construction of a new $10 million (€10m) yeast processing plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Construction on the 37,000 square foot building began in January of this year, according to a report from Industrialinfo.com.
The company plans to produce yeast for hi-speed wholesale bakeries, primarily in the Southeast and Midwest regions of the United States.
Once construction is completed, planned for December of this year, the plant will employ about 50 people. Hattiesburg is located in Mississippi, about 120 kilometres southeast of Jackson.
