Sensitech, a leading global supplier of cold chain monitoring systems to the food industry, has been named an "Innovator of the Year" by SBANE (Smaller Business Association of NewEngland).

The award recognises companies that display outstanding innovation and excellence, and transform their ideas into products or services that deliver value to their customers.

One of only five companies to receive the award, Sensitech was selected from 80 nominees representing software, technology, manufacturing and service companies throughout the region.

Eric Schultz, Sensitech CEO, credits Sensitech's people for the company's continued rapid growth, which has earned it an Inc. 500 ranking twice in the last five years. "Protecting the global supply chain for food and pharmaceuticals has become a top priority. Sensitech has moved from selling simple instruments to becoming an important information systems and service provider in this space," he said. "When we tell people we are in the Supply Chain Execution Management business for the cold chain, they look at us like we're speaking a foreign language. But when we tell them we monitor and help guard the fresh produce in the salad they ate for lunch, the medicine they took for their headache, or the flu vaccines they'll get this Fall, it really strikes a chord."

Over the past decade, Sensitech has become the world's leading supplier of cold chain monitoring systems and services to the Food and Life Sciences industries. Sensitech's systems and services measure the condition of highly temperature sensitive food and drug products as they move through the perishables' supply chain or "cold chain". Sensitech's offerings feature a web-enabled, global data collection network along with complete consulting and outsourcing services. The company has 170 employees and generated $25.6 million in revenue in 2001.
