RPC Bebo Plastik, the UK-based rigid plastic packaging manufacturer, has launched a unique tub lid thermoformed in metallised polystyrene sheet.
This sheet is being produced by sister company RPC Cobelplast-Montonate in Italy as part of the RPC Group's European-wide packaging service.
At the same time, RPC Bebo is able to apply special metallised wraparound labels in polypropylene, which cover 95 per cent of the tub, to create an eye-catching and individual look for an ice cream pack.
The lid can be decorated by transparent labels, while the tub label can also be further decorated to enable different brands to develop their own unique identity.
This is the first ever 100 per cent metallised look lid and is a development that cannot be achieved by injection moulding.
"Like every other market, the ice cream sector is becoming increasingly competitive, while new product development is creating ever more exotic flavours and derivatives," explains Roland Schultz, RPC Bebo's Sales Manager, Ice-Cream Packaging.
"These metallised lids and labels add another dimension to ice cream packaging offering manufacturers further opportunities to create a distinct identity and maximum shelf appeal for their brands."
