US companies MeadWestvaco and EastPrint have created a new consumer
packaging company in Russia called WestvacoEastPrint. The new
business will begin operations in autumn and will supply printed
paperboard packaging materials for global and Russian-based tobacco
companies.

US companies MeadWestvaco and EastPrint have created a new consumer packaging company in Russia called WestvacoEastPrint. The new business will begin operations in autumn and will supply printed paperboard packaging materials for global and Russian-based tobacco companies.

WestvacoEastPrint is a wholly owned subsidiary of WestvacoEastPrint Holding. EastPrint has extensive experience of Russian business. Principal Marina Pereverzeva is the founder and general director of Almaz Press, a leading printer of high quality magazines, including Russian-language versions of Cosmopolitan, Town & Country and Harper's Bazaar.

MeadWestvaco will have a controlling interest in the new joint venture. Virginia R. McLain, a longtime MeadWestvaco executive will be managing director of the new venture.

"This new joint venture represents a modest financial investment, but one that is consistent with our strategy of supporting the world's leading consumer products companies as they expand globally,"​ said Rita V. Foley, senior vice president and COO of MeadWestvaco's global Consumer Packaging Group.

"Several important tobacco customers are actively expanding their Russian presence, and their packaging needs will give WestvacoEastPrint a full order from the start."

The company currently supports customers in Europe through a subsidiary, The Wall Group, which operates in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. The new plant will be located in Moscow.

MeadWestvaco Corporation​, headquartered in Connecticut, US has annual sales of $8 billion.
