PMMI licenses Vastera

Vastera, provider of solutions for Global Trade Management, has been licensed by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute in an effort to enhance its members' trading capabilities.
"PMMI member companies sell equipment to all parts of the world," said Jorge Izquierdo, director of global marketing at PMMI. "Vastera's TradeSphere capabilities will help members make sense out of all the duties, taxes and tariffs that are a part of international commerce. With more than 85 per cent of PMMI members exporting equipment around the world, Vastera will provide a direct benefit to a large number of our membership by providing them with more comprehensive cost information to enhance sourcing decisions."
PMMI has licensed Vastera's TradeSphere solution to provide current landed cost information for international shipments, thereby enabling its members to make more educated decisions about buying and selling. Its service includes such information as duties, taxes, fees, insurance costs, and transportation costs.
PMMI members will also be able to classify products more quickly and accurately with the help of TradeSphere's Harmonized Schedule Number Lookup feature. By classifying products accurately, companies eliminate overpayment of duties and avoid delays at Customs.
