Syspal develops new handling unit
A new materials handling unit for the food industry has been developed by the UK-based Syspal group. The Syspal Carousel is designed for end of line pack and process operations and is said to increase operator efficiency.
The company said that the oval shape of the carousel meant that product could be on hand at all times, something which had been hard to achieve in the past with traditional long conveyor arrangements.
"By regularly 'topping up' products which travel around a circuit, operators are kept constantly supplied and can maintain a steady work rate in order to maximise productivity," the company said in a statement.
The carousel can be produced in extended lengths to create space for as many operators as are needed for a particular operation, and can not only accommodate a large number of operators but also multiple in-feed conveyors. Its modular design means that it is possible to build any conceivable configuration of carousel to suit both production and planning constraints, the company claimed.
Syspal said that the unit had been designed with the food industry in mind and was made from 304 grade stainless steel. It also has simple removable side panels to allow easy access for cleaning, vital in the hygiene conscious food industry.
