Smurfit Kappa cracks the market with 'first' liquid egg in Pouch-Up format
The product is available in one-litre or two-litre packaging, with a pouring spout at the top for a clean flow of the liquid eggs.
BIB700 SUP filling line
Domaine Du Tauzia is a family business founded in 1984, which produces and sells eggs in the Southwest of France.
Florence Decock, product manager, Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box, told BakeryandSnacks that liquid eggs are already well known in the Bag-in-Box industry and are now beginning to take shape in Pouch-Ups.
“They are provided to food service supply chains and wholesalers and consequently not visible on retail shelves for the end consumer,” she said.
Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box approached Domaine du Tauzia with the concept by offering to install and adapt its BIB700 SUP filling line.
It fitted a next-generation filling valve with two separate circuits and said the machine meets all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) criteria.
“We believe our liquid eggs packaged in a Pouch-Up are the first on the market,” said Didier Daste, sales director, Domaine du Tauzia.
Plastic containers & Bag-in-Box
“The packaging helps us to innovate and diversify our product portfolio. Designed for the catering sector in 2016, the Pouch-Up has really conquered the bakers and pastry network in 2015.”
Daste added the egg market is mainly dominated by plastic containers and Bag-in-Box, so this type of packaging is innovative and unique.
“Domaine du Tauzia recognized the catering industry wants to differentiate itself in the shell and pasteurised egg industries. Pouch-Up allows us to diversify ourselves by our product packaging,” he said.
Decock added, Pouch-Up offers several advantages to its users: it is lightweight and unbreakable and convenient to use.
“The Pouch-Up guarantees the safest hygiene conditions necessary for use in the food industry and in the catering supply chain, which makes it perfectly adapted to the liquid eggs market,” she said.
“We have proven that with this launch the Pouch-Up can be diversified by its application by entering dynamic markets, such as the liquid eggs one.”
