From trending bachelorette-inspired boxes on TikTok to Amazon’s new take of the traditional woven picnic basket, the portable snack box has gone overboard. But there’s an art to filling it.

Priced from $10 up to a whopping $98, the modular, stack-your-own portable snack containers are capitalizing on the rise of the ‘little treat’ culture that has captured the attention of all generations, from children to adults. The elaborate bento box also plays into today’s fast-paced lifestyles, offering a keep-hunger-at-bay solution for busy moms and road trippers, along with a stylish snack option for social media mavens.

The sweet box

Wee Shorties from Walker’s Shortbread


The iconic Scottish brand has launched a range shrinks its iconic all-butter shortbread into mini bitesize pieces – to be enjoyed wherever and whenever.

The nation’s favourite shortbread maker has introduced two initial SKUs as part of the Wee Shorties range – Wee Shorties Mini Shortbread Fingers and Wee Shorties Chocolate Chip – both available as a 15 bag multi pack, on shelf exclusively in WHSmith Travel within Global Travel Retail (GTR).

The snackable format will appeal to time-poor shoppers looking for a tasty but easily transportable snack that doesn’t compromise on taste and quality.

“With so many great ways to enjoy shortbread, we’ve made it our mission at Walker’s to show the world just how exciting and versatile shortbread can be,” said MD Nicky Walker.

“They say the best things come in small packages… and with Wee Shorties that really is the case.

“The individual serving sizes also reflect the growing demand for more mindful snacking without compromising on taste or quality, which means consumers can still experience the Joy of Shortbread in moderation.”

Wee Shorties Mini Shortbread Fingers and Wee Shorties Chocolate Chip are available exclusively at WHSmith for an RRP of £15.50. A bigger retail rollout is planned in August.

Karma Nuts’ Cashew Cookies


The cashew producer has launched a line of cashew cookies to mark a decade of nutty excellence.

Karma Nuts has made its mark on the snacks scene with Wrapped cashews, which retain the natural skin of the nut that adds fiber and powerful antioxidants while reducing food waste. The producer claims to have sold more than a million pounds of cashews over the past 10 years, saving thousands of pounds in food waste.

To celebrate its anniversary, it has launched soft and chewy, plant-based Cashew Cookies that use simple ingredients and no refined sugars. Sweetened with dates and coconut and imparting a buttery taste thanks to the cashews, the bite-sized treats are grain- and gluten-free and non-GMO project-verified.

“Our success over the past ten years is a testament to our commitment to quality and our mission to provide healthy, delicious snacks,” said founder and CEO Ganesh Nair.

“We look forward to continuing this journey and making a positive impact for many years to come."

 The new line comes in Chocolate Chip, Toasted Coconut, and Cashew Date and is available on Thrive Market and the company’s website for an RRP of $5.99 per bag.

Flips cinnamon bun flavored pretzels


Flipz has launched its latest taste sensation.

Claiming to be ‘the ultimate 3D taste sensation’, the brand is capitalizing on the consumer’s love for the distinctive cinnamon bun flavor, which has seen a 59.9% increase in demand since 2016.

Embracing the adventurous tastebuds of today’s youth, Flipz has released the craveable snack to satisfy the craving for something sweet ‘n salty that’s sure to pop up this summer.

“The popularity of all things cinnamon bun has been steadily growing and shows no signs of slowing down, so we’ve jumped on this trend with our latest Flipz innovation,” said Adam Woolf, marketing director, pladis UK&I.

The UK’s No.1 sausage roll brand is targeting breakfast occasions with the launch of its first to market All Day Breakfast Scotch Egg, alongside a new All Day Breakfast Jumbo Roll and All Day Breakfast Slice.

The maker of premium mozzarella stick has won a listing with Whole Foods Markets for its Big Mozz Sticks.

Made with whole milk mozzarella (no processed, part-skim string cheese), then breaded and seasoned with garlic, parsley and Pecorino Romano cheese, the giant-sized sticks promise a really big cheese pull. From freezer to oven (or air fryer), it’s mere minutes to achieve crispy, cheesy goodness.
