Cereal maker Kellogg has announced two leadership changes to drive its growth in the North American and European markets.

Chris Hood, president of Kellogg Europe, has been appointed to take the lead of Kellogg North America, while Dave Lawlor, VP of Kellogg’s European cereal business, will succeed Hood as president of Kellogg Europe.

Both will report to Kellogg’s chairman and CEO, Steve Cahillane, effective July 1, 2018.

"Chris has successfully led our European business through challenging market conditions and expansion into new markets, revitalizing our marketing and innovation activity and improving our profitability," said Cahillane.

"In recent months, I've had the opportunity to spend more time with the Kellogg North America businesses, and I am confident that they are on firm strategic and financial footing. Chris is the right person to build on the progress the team has made,” he added.

Cahillane noted the portfolios Hood will lead include US morning foods, snacks, frozen foods, specialty channels, Kashi and Canada.

He addded that Lawlor has held several senior roles in Kellogg over the past 27 years, including leading the company’s businesses in the Mediterranean, Middle East, Russia, Ireland and the UK.

"Both [Lawlor and Hood] have the experience and skills to lead and execute our ‘deploy for growth’ strategy,” said Cahillane.

Kellogg North America posted sales of $2.33bn in Q1 2018, increasing by 1.8% year-over-year. Its European business grew by 14.4% in sales during the period.
