The Twinkies maker has announced it has appointed consumer packaged goods executive Andrew Callahan as its CEO, effective May 7, 2018.

Callahan will replace C. Dean Metropoulos, who has been serving as interim president and CEO since March 31, 2018.

Metropoulos will remain as executive chairman of the company’s Board of Directors. Callahan has also been appointed as a director on the board.

Callahan has more than 23 years of executive leadership experience serving in key consumer packaged goods industry roles at Tyson Foods, The Hillshire Brands Company, Sara Lee Corporation and Kraft Foods.

“We welcome [Callahan’s] leadership, brand and innovation expertise as we continue to further build our distribution and market share in the sweet baked goods category,” said Metropoulos.
