Hostess Brands’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Andrew Jacobs, has been promoted to chief operating officer (COO).

Jacobs has been Hostess’ chief commercial officer since June this year, a recently-created position meant to “place continued emphasis on launching new products and packaging, grow distribution and build on consumer engagement.”

The company’s CEO Bill Toler, who plans to retire in March, said Jacobs has a track record of consistent execution during his tenure.

“The board of directors and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him to deliver continued long-term growth and profitability,” Toler said.

Jacobs said in a statement that he hopes to achieve “further efficiency” and grow with Hostess’ retail and trade partners.

He also told BakeryandSnacks in June that Hostess’ partnership with Amazon is growing and is not affected by the acquisition with Whole Foods.
