Kellogg has announced the election of Carter Cast to its board of directors, effective June 15, 2017.

The company said Cast brings vast experience in the digital arena as he lead Walmart.com as its CEO, and his position is “critical to Kellogg as it continues to grow its presence in e-commerce.”

Cast also worked as a marketing executive at PepsiCo where he managed its $1.5bn tortilla chip category, including the Frito-Lay brand.

In its Q1 results, Kellogg reported sales of around $3.25bn, a 4.1% decrease compared to last year. The sales decline was due to “softness in underlying consumption, particularly early in the quarter, as well as the timing of shipments from Q4, resulting in a reduction in trade inventory in Q1,” the company said in a release.

Kellogg’s e-commerce sales in China, however, more than doubled during the period, CEO John Bryant said during the quarterly earnings conference call.
