Bio is here to stay-o
On the bio-based carton front there was news from Elopak and Tetra Pak among others.
FrieslandCampina will roll out Elopak's bio-based Pure-Pak carton over the next 18 months, starting with Campina fresh milk and buttermilk.
The 1L carton consists of renewable paperboard and International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISSC PLUS) polyethylene (PE) from biomass from second generation feedstock.
Tetra Pak's 100% renewable Tetra Rex Bio-based carton was made globally availble after a trial with Finnish dairy Valio.
The carton combines Braskem bio-based polyethylene (PE) from sugar cane and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paperboard.
Braskem is also looking at green PP but solid dates for market launch and end of use areas have not been made clear.
