Packaging from agricultural waste
Biodegradable packaging will be produced in association with UK retailer Waitrose and food tray producer Sharpak.
Imperial College London partnered with ADMIT BioSuccInnovate Consortium to investigate use of agricultural waste to make biodegradable packaging.
Scientists will look at wheat and maize straw, energy crops like Elephant grass and willow, to produce biosuccinic acid, a chemical building block used in producing bioplastics.

The Micro and Nano Fibrillated Cellulose (M/NFC) packaging is made using 100% agriculture waste.
On a similar theme, Solidus Solutions is working on scaling up a process to produce solid board with tomato plant fibers.
