Swedish and Danish bread sales hit by changing consumer habits, says analyst
Euromonitor analyst, Pasi Hannonen, said industrial bread sales in Sweden, Denmark and Finland would decline over the next five years as a result of a low-carb trend and changing consumer habits.
Hannonen said a combination of a preference for low-carb diets in Scandinavia with a growing trend towards artisanal bakery would weaken industrial bread sales.
He added that parts of the population in Finland and Sweden are turning to premium bread from smaller bakeries and many also prefer to bake at home.
