Cereal bars: The sugary truth
UK consumer advocacy group Which? found that leading cereal bar brands were high in sugar, saturated fats and calories, with one product containing more sugar than a small can of Coke.
It looked into the sugar and fat content of 30 best-selling cereal bar brands – including products from Kellogg, Weetabix, Mars and Cadbury.
The ‘worst offender’ was Nutri-Grain Elevenses raisin bakes. The 45g bar contained 18g of sugar, nearly four teaspoons that Which? noted was more sugar than in a small 150ml can of cola.
