Tetra Pak announced it had supplied equipment for a new 100m-liter per year not-from-concentrate fruit processing plant in Spain.

The packaging and processing giant said it had equipped the140,000 square metre facility in Puerto de Sagunto, Spain. Dubbed one of the largest anf most modern in Europe, the site will process 400,000 tonnes of citrus for Zumamesa.

Tetra Pak supplied the new plant with tailor-made processing solutions that include units for pasteurisation, aseptic filling and emptying of 80 stainless steel tanks, cleaning in place, blending and delivering in bulks.

The co-operative, made up of 57 suppliers from the Valencia region of Spain, said it had invested in the state-of-the-art and turnkey processing equipment to manufacture premium juice for export. Zuvamesa managing director José Maria Andueza said the new plant would boost the company’s competitiveness in the international market.
