Ohio-based QC industries claims its Flextrac plastic chain belt conveyer move loads of up to 500 lbs (227kg) over flat distances at speeds greater than competing products. The drive for greater efficiency and automation in plants is adding pressure or processors and packagers to upgrade their equipment. Conveyer belts allow firms to speed up operations, while reducing human contact with products, which in turn, reduces the risk of contamination. Conveyers are supplied as standard up to 30ft (9.1m), with lengths up to 100ft (30.5m) available, while belts widths can be between 4" (10cm) to 24" (61cm). A range of 100 one inch pitch belt types are available including polypropylene, designed for general use, a proprietary high temperature composite, which can withstand temperatures up to 392F (200C). An antimicrobial polyethylene cold application flat top-belt is manufactured with an antimicrobial additive and has open hinge design for easy cleaning during changeovers and washdowns, claims the manufacturer. Specialty belts are also available, including roller-top belts for accumulation, high-friction belts for product control, and nub-top belts for easy product release, the company said. Belts with sideguards to prevent products from falling, can also be fitted. Belts are supplied with lube-for-life bearing, which a coated in a permanent micro-poly lubricant, eliminating the need to periodically, QC Industries claims. Conveyers, which are laser cut from 10-gauge steel and covered with powder, are supplied with a five-year warranty. A variety of accessories, including sides, guides, mounts, stands, drive packages and controls allow conveyors to be adapted to suit the individuals needs of the plant, claims the manufacturer.
