Sidel has launched a new machine that it claims will speed
up the labelling of glass, plastics and metal containers.

According to the France-based company, the Rollquattro Evolution system can reduce turnover time for label changing by 30 per cent, whilst at the same time increasing accuracy at high speed by 20 per cent, compared to existing lines. The Rollquattro Evolution can apply 72,000 paper or plastic wrap around labels within an hour, the company claimed. Annual glue consumption is also reduced by around 15 per cent through the inclusion of a diamond shape applicator cylinder, the company claimed. Sidel said the increased efficiency of its new labelling system is the result of a number of new design features. The adoption of an oval shaped drum over a more common round structure allows for easier label placement that doesn't require an additional wipe down system. Rollquattro also uses a single rotary blade system for label cutting that needs fewer adjustments during operating, the company said. The company adds that the new labeller is already being used by Chinese group Ting Hsin for use at all 20 of its mineral water packaging lines.
