Portable heat sealer raises the speed bar

UK-based Proseal said its GT2 is the now the fastest machine in the company's range. It was developed following feedback from customers on the latest requirements for heat sealing equipment. "A major priority remains the need to maximise throughput but this has to be balanced with shorter production runs to accommodate continual new product development and recipe variations for different end customers," the company said. The increase in speed was achieved through features such as servo-controlled pack transfer, the company claimed. The transfer system allows a smooth movement for trays throughout the sealing process to avoid spillages. Self-centering pack guides help ensure trays are accurately positioned for sealing, especially vital in maintaining production speed after a tool change, the company claimed. Other features help maintain consistent operation include automatic film snap and film end detection, the company stated. The new model is designed with a menu-driven control panel, which can be remotely accessed and controlled. The software also captures production data, monitoring and diagnostics. This design is also based on Proseal's "Auto Tool" connection system, which allows workers to make changes in about three minutes, the company claimed. "Downtime is also minimised by the use of quick-change conveyor belts, and an auto-lock film reel holder," the company stated. "The machine's practical design is enhanced by situating the electrical controls above the sealing area, and this also allows safe access for cleaning." A swing arm control interface allows workers to operate the sealer from either side.
