Sun Chemical hike ink prices by up to 6 percent
percent to 6 percent from 1January, the company announced.
"Despite our efforts to mitigate the impact of the rising costs in raw materials through active involvement with our supplier base and by driving internal efficiencies, we continue to face significant increases in all of our manufacturing costs," said RichardPettifor, president of Sun Chemical's North American packaging inks division.
Pettifor said the company as taken many steps to reduce operating costs in an effort to offsetthe increases. However the company can no longer continue to absorb the increases, and therefore must pass along a portion of the actual increasesto clients.
Sun Chemical is the world's largest producer of printing inks and pigments for the packaging, publication, coatings, plastics, cosmetics, and other industrial markets.The company has annual sales of about $4bn a year.
