The UK will celebrate National Doughnut Week between 31 January-7th February2004, sponsored by Arkady Craigmillar. The organisers say that the event isbeing held in a bid to fund-raise for Save the Children whilst giving highstreet bakers the chance to boost sales and get their business year off to astrong start.
Event organiser and proprietor of Dunn's Bakery, Crouch End- Christopher Freeman said that the support received in 2003 ensured a sum of over £36,000 (Euros 53,000) was raised for Save theChildren.
National Doughnut Week has become an annual entry into the high streetbakers diaries, with hundreds of bakers realising the potential of jumpingaboard the fund-raising bandwagon, the organisers say, adding that itensures increased gross sales, impulse purchases and raised awareness forhigh street bakers and significant funding for Save the Children.
Christopher Freeman commented "National Doughnut Week remains first andforemost a means to raise needy funds for children in over 70 countriesworldwide. It also serves as a business booster for participating highstreet bakeries."
All the proceeds for National Doughnut Week go to Save the Children's workin the UK and countries around the world.
