Systech Instruments, a leading designer and manufacturer of gas analysis instrumentation, has recently launched the Series 8000 analyser, a modular system for the precise measurement of oxygen permeation of packaging film up to 1.27 mm thick.

Two models are available; the Model 8000 has a very wide, measurement range of 0.008 to 432,000 cc/m2/day and the Model 8500, suitable for less demanding applications, has a range of 50 to 99,999 cc/m2/day.

In both models, the company claims that analysis can be achieved without complex extrapolations providing a unique combination of speed and precision. The control software, run on any Windows platform, provides a user-friendly interface that automatically guides the operator through the test procedure.

To complement the analysers, Systech Mapcheck is a versatile and compact instrument for measuring the concentration of oxygen in the headspace gas of flexible and rigid packages. Primary applications are modified atmosphere packaged food and drink products and oxygen sensitive pharmaceutical products.

Said to be equally suitable for testing during production and in post production quality assurance laboratories, the microprocessor controlled Mapcheck is simple to operate and suitable for a wide range of applications where the oxygen content of a gas mix needs to be monitored. Oxygen analysis by miniature zirconia probe, with a typical life of twenty years, is a proven technique giving accurate, stable and repeatable oxygen readings, even in harsh environments, the company claims.
