Cereal bars may be growing in popularity but Swiss cereal maker bio-familia has launched a different kind of cereal snack - bitesize muesli pieces that can be eaten with fingers directly from the pot.

The company, which displayed the new product at SIAL in October, claims Pickers is the first muesli to need neither milk nor spoon. The product comes in two varieties - Pickers Natural au miel (with honey) or Pickers Choco and is packed in a 125g plastic pot, with a resealable lid.

bio-familia</>, based in Sachseln, Switzerland, claims that the idea behind the product came from consumer research showing that people tended to snack on crunchy muesli, directly from the packet.

Billed as healthy and delicious, marketing material is targeting the active 18-35 year old age group, and mothers who wish to give their children a healthy snack. The product is currently being tested on the UK market.

Each pot contains between 40 and 50 muesli pieces and costs around SF2.70.
