SIG Corpoplast, the global manufacturer of machines for theproduction of PET bottles, has 'wrapped' its head office with 25,000 PET bottles to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Swiss SIG group.
To further mark the occasion, SIG Corpoplast, which was bought by parent company SIG in July 2000, has organised an international packaging competition among its seven subsidiaries in Germany, Brazil, Italy, Thailand, the USA and Switzerland.
Since 24 October this year, employees of SIG Corpoplast have been meeting after work to line up 50 PET bottles each on a total of 500 ropes - divided between the subsidiaries.
Every one of the 25,000 light and dark blue bottles had to be provided with a hole and was then threaded with a 'knitting needle'. After two weeks, the preparations were completed and the ropes were hung to reveal the SIG logo shaped by the different coloured plastic bottles.
The technical implementation of the project was based on the plans of the architects firm Wagner & Wagner, and with the help of a 'knitting pattern' for the 500 ropes it was possible to weave the company logo into this extraordinary piece of decoration.
