Daibochi Plastic and Packaging Industry, the Malaysian packaging
provider, has posted a 7.3 per cent rise in first half net profit.

Daibochi Plastic and Packaging Industry, the Malaysian packaging provider, has posted a 7.3 per cent rise in first half net profit to RM3.94 million (€1.07m) on a 10 per cent jump in revenue to RM56.38 million.

Pre-tax profit rose 18.9 per cent to RM5.03 million for the six months ended June 30.

However, for the second quarter alone, its net profit slipped 3.9 per cent to RM2.23 million, while pre-tax profit rose 16.4 per cent to RM2.82 million. Revenue was 8.1 per cent higher at RM29.13 million from the previous RM26.95 million.

Daibochi started operations in 1973 and initially was involved in the manufacturing of plain single-ply plastic bags for users in the general food industry. Current production capacity is 8,000 m/t of laminated packaging materials annually.

More than 90 per cent of its products are supplied to local end-users in the food, beverage, confectionery and tissue industries. The balance is exported to countries such as Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Mauritius, Thailand, Pakistan and Australia.
