Nagasaki is to play host to the 22nd Aquaculture Technology Convention - to be held on 19 and 20 September at Kabutogani Arena. It will incorporate the 2nd Aquaculture Technology Exposition and the 1st Symposium of Japan Aquaculture, which is to be opened on 19 September.
The axis of the convention is the IV International Symposium on The New Paradigm for Aquaculture - to be held on 20 September. The 2nd Aquaculture Technology Expo will be held on 19 and 20 September.
The second Aquaculture Technology Expo aims to build on the inaugural event held in February 2001 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The first expo drew 55 fisheries - related exhibitors and organisations, and 2,450 of visitors - mostly fish farmers and fishing companies.
The expo earned a good reputation, as more than 70 per cent of the 55 exhibitors indicated that they had received many inquiries during the convention. The organisers expect that numbers will be boosted to around 5,000 this time around.
Technologies to be showcased this year include mechanical feeding, water quality management, measurement, nets, farm management computer systems and others covering almost all farming fields.
There will be 150 stands at the exhibition costing ¥200,000 (€1,727) per booth - plus a five per cent tax charge. The secretariat is offering discounts of three, five and 10 per cent if applicants apply for three, five or 10 booths or more.
Exhibition Technologies also manages the 4th Japan-International Seafood Show to be held between 24 and 26 July in Tokyo.
