US nutritional marine oil company Neptune Technologies &
Bioressources has formed a partnership with NASA Food Technology
Commercial Space Center (NASA FTCSC). NASA FTCSC works in
partnership with Johnson Space Center to develop food products and
food processing technologies for space and commercial applications.

According to a statement released this week, NASA FTCSC has expressed an interest in the nutritional and antioxidant properties of Neptune Krill Oil, a marine oil from Neptune Technologies & Bioressources.

"We are very excited to have Neptune Technologies & Bioressources on board as a commercial partner. Neptune Krill Oil has great potential for extending the shelf life and adding nutrition to food products,"​ NASA FTCSC director Anthony Pometto commented.

Dr Tina Sampalis, vice president of research at Neptune Technologies & Bioressources, said:"The formation of this commercial partnership with the NASA Food Technology Commercial Space Center is a major step ahead for Neptune. Developing novel nutraceuticals suitable for astronaut nutrition in space is an incredible challenge that we are looking forward to. Neptune strives for excellence and this is one of our chances to prove it."

NASA FTCSC was established in 1999 to develop foods and food-processing technologies that enhance space missions and advance commercial food products through joint efforts with NASA scientists and technologists, commercial companies and academic researchers.
