Leeds Vacuum Formers (LVF), a UK-based thermoformed packaging firm, has spent £530k in total on a Kiefel thermoforming machine and a Siropack padding line, increasing capacity by 25%.

Nigel Coates, MD, LVF, claims the company has seen over 10% growth every year for the past six years, after a number of investments including a £100k tool room expansion, two CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machines and £90k on green initiatives.

The growth we’ve enjoyed over the last few years has been the result of hard work and significant investment back into the business,” said Coates.

Moving forward, we felt the time was right to spend again to provide the capacity and capabilities to grow even more quickly.”

Manufactured in Germany by Kiefel, the KMD 78 Speedformer enables the rapid and low cost production of rigid plastic packaging products. It will be delivered to LVF in early June 2015.

The Siropack SR08 padding line will allow LVF to bring in-house the insertion of fabric soaker pads into thermoformed rigid plastic trays. The work, which is currently out-sourced, is anticipated to be worth at least £70k to the business in the first year alone.
