New products: Vegan Bars, Bean Crisps and Ready To Bake Cupcakes

BakeryandSnacks presents a roundup of products that caught our eye this month.

Guilt-free snacking

Sun Encas are small bags of mixed dried fruits and nuts that are handy to slip in a briefcase, handbag or school satchel to replenish on the go. Developed by French dried fruit producer Color Foods, four 35 g packets comprise a case sold for a recommended retail price (RRP) of €3.45 ($3.71) in selected retail outlets in France. The variants include Grilled Almonds & Cranberries, Cashew Nuts & Raisins; Dried Apricots, Figs & Raisins; and Grilled Almonds.

Good morning

Norwegian dairy producer Tine has released a range of yogurt, fruit and nut bars under the brand Go’morgen, that it claims contains 30% less sugar than most bars in the category. Based on the popularity of the Go’Morgen yogurts and mueslis, the company also contends the Go’morgen bars are rich in fiber and a good source of protein, yet still retain the indulgent treat feeling. Available in 45 g bars in Muesli & Pecan; Salty Caramel & Cranberry; and Yogurt in retailers.

Cupcakes in an instant

Stork, a baking brand from the Unilever UK stable, has launched into the cake ready mix sector with Ready to Bake. This range of chilled liquid cupcake ready mixes includes three variants – chocolate, lemon and classic – that require no additional ingredients to make up to 10 cupcakes in half an hour. Available throughout the UK, the Stork Ready to Bake Cupcake Mixes have a RRP of £3.00 ($3.84).

Going crackers

Snackers are gluten- and preservative-free crackers for multiple occasions. Marketed under the Schär brand in France, the company has been specializing the researching and developing gluten-free products for 35 years. Snackers are available in four 29 g packs, retailing for a RRP of €2.29 ($2.47) from selected grocery and health food stores countrywide.

‘Bean’ a pleasure

Snack It Forward has released two new flavors to its Favarites Fava Crisps range, including Cracked Pepper and White Cheddar. The pulse-based snacks are made from Peruvian Fava beans that are high in fiber and rich in protein. The crisps are vegan and gluten-free and made with natural, non-GMO ingredients. Other flavors in the range include Santa Barbara Ranch; Brighton Vinegar & Salt; and Texas Barbeque. World Peas Fava Crips are available in Target and other US grocers nationwide, as well as online, for a RRP of $2.99-$4.99.

Pump up the protein

Natural Balance Foods is answering the call for high-protein products with Trek Chunks. The 60 g packs of bite-size chunks are made from cold-pressed, natural ingredients such as dates, soya protein, oats and raisins, each typically containing around 12 g of protein. The snacks are also vegan, gluten-, and dairy-free, and contain no added sugar or syrups. Available in three on-trend flavours – Cocoa Peanut Peak; Toffee Triumph; and Cranberry Kick – Trek Chucks are sold in Asda outlets nationwide, as well as online, for a RRP of £1.15 ($1.47).

Veritably vegan

Go Veggie has launched Grab-N-Go Vegan Snack Bars in two flavors – White American and White Cheddar & Meatless Bacon.  Expanding on the popularity of their cheese alternative products, the bars are made with coconut and non-GMO ingredients. In addition, they contain no dairy, cholesterol, lactose, soy nor gluten, and are only 60 calories each. Available in conventional and natural grocery stores around the US, 170 g bag contains eight 8 g bars and has a RRP of $5.99.
