Strawberry drizzle

Borders biscuits

Border Biscuits is rolling out Strawberry Drizzle Melts in selected Sainsbury’s stores throughout Scotland for a RSP of £1.75. 

The new variant has been added to the company’s classic recipes product line, which includes Lemon Drizzle Melts, Viennese Whirls and Golden Oat Crumbles.

The Lanark-based biscuit maker’s portfolio includes 21 biscuit variety sold in luxury mini packs, sharing packs and a gift range.

Last year, the company reported a turnover of £16.5m and currently employs 150 people.

Five into one

Cantina Mix

Southern Recipe, from Lima, Ohio-based Rudolph Foods, has a new pork snack mix.

Known for its existing flavors of signature pork rinds – Original, Hot Spicy, Bar-B-Que and Salt Vinegar – the new Cantina Mix combines five low-carb, high-protein products, including hot ‘n spicy pork cracklins, tangy chili limon tortilla chips, corn snacks and wheat snacks. 

Southern Recipe’s newest addition has an SRP of $1.99 per 5-ounce bag and is available in retail outlets across Texas in the US.

Quinoa super food

Quinoa d'Anjou has launched Quinoa Crack, 100% quinoa crisp cereal, onto the French market.

Quinoa Crack is a crunchy gluten- and sugar-free breakfast cereal that contains quinoa grown in France’s Anjou region, which accounts for a third of French quinoa consumption.

Quinoa is regarded as a super food as it is rich in magnesium, protein, iron and fiber, as well as all the essential amino acids.

Quinoa d'Anjou, in operation since 2009, is the only quinoa co-operative in France. It is supervised by the CAPL (Agricultural Cooperative of the Pays de la Loire), which has a membership of more than 250 farmers producing 2,000 ton of the grain annually.

Quinoa Crack is available in 8-pack 375 g carton at a SRF of €6 in System U supermarkets in France and online.

Happy snacks

bakerly, creators of French bakery products sold in the US, has added two new flavors to its Happy Go Snacky Crunchy Crêpes line – hazelnut chocolate and caramel.

bakerly's Happy Go Snacky line also include chocolate or strawberry-filled Crêpes, chocolate chunk Mini Brioches, chocolate-filled Croissants and Petit Sponge Cakes with chocolate, strawberry or apricot filling.

The new flavors – available across the US – are individually wrapped for convenient, on-the-go snacking.

As with all Bakerly products, they use only natural ingredients that are non-GMO and contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Bakerly, based in Brittany, France, is a subsidiary of the Norac Group, a European food manufacturer specializing in packaged bakery products and fresh food-to-go.

PopnSprinkle-Products

Pop’n Sprinkle comes in 10g sachets that are now being sold for home use in England, Scotland and Ireland.

The sprinkles come in six flavors, including salt & vinegar, candy caramel, cheesy onion, sweet chilli, creamy butter and sour cream & chive varieties.

Pop’n Sprinkle is the brainchild of South Africans Shannon Teague and Michèle Duplessis and contains no MSG or artificial colorings.

The sprinkles are suitable for homemade, microwave and cinema popcorn and can also be used on French fries.

Pop'n Sprinkle sachets are available at selected Vue cinemas (Fulham, Romford, Shepherds bush, Stratford, Dublin, Edinburgh) and online for 0.89p each.

Paleo hits Norway

Paleo bites

Paleo Eats’ energy bars have landed in Norway.

All three Paleo Eats flavors – chai spice, coconut-cacao and coffee bean – were rolled through Crossfit Norway Kristiansand and “Will I Juice” in Norway this month, and distribution will be expanded to include natural food stores and coffee shops shortly.

Debbie Fred created Paleo Eats in 2012 when she discovered all three of her children had food intolerances.

The bars are gluten-, dairy- grain-, legume- wheat- and corn-free and made without any processed sugar.

Paleo Eats are available for a RSP of $4.46 per bar.

No grains

GeeFree Pocket Sandwiches Montage

Englewood Cliffs, NJ-based GeeFree Foods, which claims to be the only manufacturer of gluten-free puff pastry products in the US, will be launching a line of gluten-free microwavable sandwich pockets in September in the US in three varieties: Sausage, Egg and Cheese; Buffalo Chicken; and Cheese Pizza.

The frozen puff pastries come two per box and are free of antibiotics, hormones, nitrates, corn and soy.

The microwavable sleeves keep them crispy.

• Sausage, Egg & Cheese: with uncured sausage, egg, and cheddar cheese - each 4.5oz serving has 320 calories and 12g of protein

• Buffalo Chicken: with chicken, buffalo sauce, celery, blue cheese and other ingredients – each 4.5oz serving has 350 calories and 7g of protein

• Cheese Pizza: with mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce and herbs: each 4.5oz serving has 390 calories and 8g of protein

Certified gluten-free by GFS Laboratories International, GeeFree will be found in the freezer department of grocery and health food stores throughout the US for a RRP of $6 per box.

Protes protein snacks contain all the satisfaction of a fried chip without the guilt. The plant-based protein chip is baked, not fried, and contains only 120 calories per 4oz bag.

Chips with fizz

Patatas Torres

Spanish company Patatas Torres has released potato chips flavored with a fusion of sparkling wine.

The chips are described as having “a fruity flavor with a slight bubbling effect.”

Patatas Torres lists the ingredients as potatoes, sunflower oil, sparkling wine flavoring (6%), popping candy (1%), and flavor enhancer.

The company is known for their creative flavors and has produced chip flavoured like caviar, ham, and olive oil, among others.
