Bare Snacks - best known for its baked fruit slices - has expanded its coconut chips range with “on-trend” flavors.

Two new flavors – sweet ginger and coffee bean - are to join the existing tropical toasted variety in the range of  USDA Certified Organic coconut chips.

“The subtly spicy sweet ginger is made with organic ginger puree, while our coffee bean flavor features organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans," Bare Snacks marketing director Dana Cohen told BakeryandSnacks.

The new products, which are priced $5.69 for a 2.8-ounce bag, are launching across the US this month at Whole Foods stores and other natural grocers, said Cohen. Similar to Bare Snacks’ existing products, the new flavors are non-GMO, gluten-free and free from added oils and preservatives.

Coconut chips are rising in popularity

Coconut chips have risen in popularity in recent years, Bare Snacks said, as more consumers are sprinkling them over everything from smoothies and acai bowls to toast.

“Coconut became popular as a health snack thanks to its high fiber content and abundance of vitamins and minerals,” Cohen added.

Bare Snacks has experienced double-digit growth year-over-year, and has grown its US market share by more than 40% since 2015, according to the company.

Bare Snacks’ CEO Santosh Padki previously told this site that his brand is the number three player in the vegetable and fruit chips category. The company launched its first range of organic coconut chips as it set its sights on expanding US distribution.

“As a company dedicated to real, simple ingredients, we felt it was important to expand our USDA Certified Organic line of snacks,” Cohen said. “Organic snack options are a growing market as consumers crave clean snacks.”
