ADM Milling has launched a multiseed concentrate that contains ancient grains in the UK, in response to growing consumer demand for wellness-focused foods.

ADM Milling’s multiseed mix contains five seeds including brown and golden linseeds, sunflower, pumpkin and poppy seeds and four ancient grains: millet, chia, amaranth and quinoa.

According to Mintel’s June 2017 report, “Flour Power: Ingredient trends in flours and alternative flours,” there has been an increase in global product launches of baking ingredients and mixes containing ancient grains.

Peter Hayes, national sales manager, Bakery at ADM, said consumers were following healthier lifestyles and “the demand for healthier and nutrient-enriched bread varieties continues to grow.”

ADM Milling’s specialty mix can be combined with a range of flours to help bakers diversify their portfolios with seeded breads, loaves and rolls that are aligned to the latest consumer trends.

The blend of seeds and grains adds texture; is an additional source of fiber and protein; and combined, for example, with ADM’s harvest sun malted wheat flour result in a malty taste and aroma.

Global footprint

ADM Milling has wheat flour mills located around the UK and is a business unit of Chicago, US-based Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), one of the world’s largest agricultural processors and food ingredient providers.

The $62.3bn corporation employs approximately 32,000 employees in more than 160 countries.
