Vegetable-based snacks brand Good Health is rolling out three new products in the US this summer - including its first tortilla chips.

Unveiled at the Snack Attack event in New York this month, the new line-up comprises Veggie Pretzels, Gluten-free Pretzels and Organic Black Bean & Rice Tortilla Chips with Himalayan Salt.

All the products - which launch in August - contain nutrients from the brand's proprietary 'Veggie Blend' of spinach, broccoli, carrot, tomato, beet and shiitake mushroom. They are also certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project Verified, Kosher Certified, and USDA Organic and, in line with the rest of the Good health range, have a recommended price of $3.49 a bag.

“All our products are a good source of vitamin A, C, E, K and B6, with the following values of veggies per serving: 2.5 cups broccoli, one beet, five tomatoes, seven cups spinach and two carrots,” Good Health vice president of strategy Mary Schulman told BakeryandSnacks, adding this was the first time the company had manufactured tortilla chips.

Opportunity for better-for-you snacks

Founded in 1994, Good Health produces snacks including veggie chips, air-popped popcorn, steam-popped crisps, and olive oil and avocado oil potato chips.

The company sees the competitive better-for-you snack category as an opportunity, said Schulman.

“Good Health is the fastest growing brand family in better-for-you snacks, according to IRI, growing at more than 170% year over year,” she added.

“Like most better-for-you snacks, we anticipate that veggie snacking will continue to grow in popularity, as consumers are becoming more educated about the ingredients they consume.”

Snack Attack

Held in New York city, and organized by Editor Showcase, the Snack Attack event gave 16 brands the opportunity to display their newest innovations including a new dip line from Chobani, and Crunchmaster's gluten-free sweet potato chips.
