Ukraine’s agrarian policy minister Yurii Melnyk has announced that the Ukraine has exported approximately ten million tonnes of grain from the beginning of the financial year.

This compares to just 326,904 tonnes for the same period last year, when the country’s harvest was hit by devastating drought. UkrAgroConsult reported that Ukrainian wheat exports were 4.35 million tonnes, up from 110,628, while barley was at 3.635 million tonnes, up from 11,949.

Melnyk made the announcement at a cabinet briefing on Friday, where he also expressed hopes that grain prices would rise, in light of present unfavourable market conditions.
