Kellogg will close a snack plant in Georgia by the end of 2015 as part of its restructuring program, Project K.

The closure will hit around 325 employees at the Columbus plant. The site produces Kellogg’s Cheez-It snack, among others.

Kris Charles, vice president of communications, said: “As with any project that impacts people, these are difficult decisions. We are very mindful of the impact these changes will have – particularly to our employees, and we will help those who are impacted through their transitions.”

The closure marks part of the cereal giant’s four-year efficiency plan – coined Project K – that will slash 7% of its global workforce in total.

The Project has already seen several cut backs, including a cookie plant closure in North Carolina and job cuts at a UK plant.
