Grain-free granola​

The Paleo Foods Co. has launched a paleo grain-free granola onto the UK market.

The Chia & Hemp granola is the brand’s first 100% vegan offering and contains 8 g of plant protein per 50 g serving.

The granola only contains only natural ingredients, including coconut blossom nectar, toasted almonds, chia and hemp seeds.

Available at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Holland & Barret, Ocado, Whole Foods and Planet Organic for a RRP of £5.99 ($7.81).

Going, gone, grain​

Bob’s Red Mill, known for its whole grain products, has introduced a Paleo Flour that can be enjoyed by people who follow a paleo or grain-free diet.

Bob’s Paleo Baking Flour is a unique blend of nut flours and root starches, combined in the perfect proportions for easy baking of crackers, muffins, flatbread, pizza, pancakes and brownies.

Grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, bean-free, with only 10 carbs per serving.

Available at selected outlets throughout the US and online in 16 oz ($13.99) and 32 oz ($22.99) bags or case lots of 4 at $50.20 and $94.49 respectively.

Véa is a snack portfolio from Mondelēz that serves up real ingredients like sweet potato, butternut squash and quinoa as innovative snacks developed for ‘food explorers’ – or those seeking new adventures in food.

Available in three formats and six different recipes, including:

• Véa Seed Crackers – Greek Hummus with Olive Oil (incorporating chickpeas and sunflower seeds); and Mexican Garden Herbs (with sunflower seeds and black beans).
• Véa World Crisps - Tuscan Herbs with Roasted Garlic (comprising pearl barley), and Andean Quinoa & Spices (with ingredients such as quinoa sourced from the Andes and cayenne pepper).
• Véa Mini Crunch Bars - Thai Coconut (coconut and sweet potato), and Peruvian Sweet Potato (incorporating sweet potatoes sourced from Peru and brown rice).

The Véa portfolio can be found in the cracker aisle at major supermarkets and natural retailers in the US, in 1.7 oz, 5 oz and 20 oz. bags and a 12x1.2 oz. carton.

3D snack attack​

Intersnack has added a range of new variations from flavoured crackers to 3D render stacked chips in a selection of flavours to its SmileyWorld selection, exclusively for Lidl.

The Smiley snack line by the European snack giant continues to enjoy monumental sales growth, with key retailers including Aldi & Auchan now stocking their products, as well as the launch of Tokapi private label Smiley Snacks for Leclerc.

According to Smiley Foods, the stacked chips represent years of development by the Intersnack R&D team to be able to manufacture.

The new line of Smiley snacks will first be launched in Germany, followed by a second launch across the UK, Switzerland and France.

Sprouted health​

Lark Ellen Farm’s grain-free granola bites have replaced oats with sprouted seeds and nuts.

The crunchy clusters are packed full of nutrients from natural ingredients such as sunflower seeds, raw pepitas, almonds, walnuts, pecans, and cashews, organic figs, raw coconut, sea salt and spices.

They can be enjoyed as a breakfast cereal or as a snack on its own.

The snacks are handcrafted on Lark Ellen Farms situated in Ojai, California and contain 140 calories per 28 g bar.

Suitable for people following paleo, gluten-free and vegan diets. Available throughout the US and online at a RRP of $8 for 7.5 oz serving.

Fruit boost​

New Jersey-based Promotion In Motion Companies has just unrolled its latest innovation, Welch’s Fruit Rolls.

Delivering the same fruit boost that consumers love in Welch's Fruit Snacks and Welch's Fruit 'n Yogurt Snacks, the new snack format still features fruit front and foremost in three flavors: Berry, White Grape Strawberry, and Tropical Punch.

Made with natural flavors and colors, the Rolls are gluten- and preservative free, contain the daily recommended value of Vitamin C, as well as trace amounts of Vitamins A and E. At just 70 calories per roll, Welch's Fruit Rolls are available in 6-count boxes for a RRP of $2.99.

Savory and sweet snack packs​

Hormel Foods has rolled out four meat-cheese-and-sweet snack packs under its Natural Choice meats brand, comprising ham, turkey or chicken paired with white Cheddar cheese and either pretzels, almonds or blueberries covered in chocolate.

The 2-ounce packs include 9 g-10 g of protein each and are available in US stores nationwide at a RRP of $1.50-$2.00.

The Austin, Minnesota-based company expanded into snacks in 2013 and launched its Skippy PB Bites (peanut butter snacks) in 2015 and Rev Bites (mini-sandwiches in a four-pack) last year.

Wenzel’s goes gluten-free​

Wenzel’s Farm has converted its teriyaki flavoured snack sticks to be gluten-free.

The US producer of small batch, hand crafted and naturally hickory-smoked meat snacks has also reformulated its recipes to ensure its entire line of snacks is gluten-free, including summer sausage, brats, kielbasa, and thuringer.

The teriyaki flavoured snack sticks are available in selected US retail outlets, including Walmart, Pick n Save, PriMart and Travel Marts, among others, for the RRP of $1.79-$2.09 for the 2 oz pack and $5.99-$6.00 for the 8 oz pack.
