Interpack saw 66% of foreign visitors this year
Standing ovation: Our pick of the top stands at Interpack 2014
Themes at the show in Dusseldorf, Germany, from May 8-14, were resource efficiency for plant and machinery and packaging material usage, quality and safety for counterfeit-proof finished products and flexibility for shorter product cycles.
“It is not enough just to rent out exhibition space. Trend themes must be identified and driven in a consistent manner,” said Bernd Jablonowski, director, Interpack and Save Food.
“We have succeeded in doing this very well once again this year. The concepts of both Innovationparc Packaging and the Metal Packaging Plaza were right on track with our target groups.”
The Save Food Congress proved particularly popular combating food losses and waste in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).
The congress started on the day before the trade fair including non-profit organisations who shed light on the problems from a political and social angle. The second half of the event dealt with initiatives and Best Practice presented by enterprises.
More than 450 delegates participated in the Congress. Participants included FAO and UNEP representatives, the Senegalese Minister and musician Youssou N’Dour and the former German Federal Minister Renate Künast.
The next Messe Düsseldorf Interpack tradeshow will be held in May 2017.
