How to be a successful woman in the packaging industry

Passion, determination and ambition: all top tips for aspiring businesswomen, say three senior Swedish packaging industry figures. 

Evelina Lindgren, vice president at aPak; Maud Rahm, managing director, Flextrus; and Annelill Annvik, managing director, Gafs Kartong were at Empack 2014 in Stockholm last week.

They took part in a seminar on market leadership, the importance of packaging, and the outlook for the industry. Afterwards, FoodProductionDaily.com asked what their advice is for women who aspire to reach senior positions in the industry.

Lindgren says you need to state your ambitions loud and clear; Rahm says passion for the job is crucial; and Annvik says it’s important to be decisive to move forward. 

Career paths

Evelina Lindgren took on the role of vice president at Swedish packaging company aPak in November 2011. Headquartered near Gothenburg, the company develops packaging and logistics systems. Lindgren's previous roles include logistic manager and support manager. 

Maud Rahm is the managing director of flexible packaging company Flextrus. She has been with the company for three years. Previously, she was MD of Amcor Flexibles, Drammen (Norway). She spent 25 years as manager at AB Tefco in Sweden.

Annelill Annvik has been the owner and managing director of Gafs Kartong since 1994. The company specialises in large scale volume packaging for the food industry, manufacturing carton and micro corrugated board.
