Toyo Ink to open plastic masterbatch facility in Mexico

Toyo Ink and its subsidiary, LioChem, will open a plastic colorant manufacturing and sales office in Guadalajara, Mexico, next month.

Tokyo Ink Mexico will supply custom colorants to the packaging, consumer and automotive markets across Mexico and neighboring countries. Masterbatch is an essential material for adding color and function to plastics found in packaging and containers.

The facility will house processing lines, a color matching and applications development center, warehouse and administrative offices. It will manufacture its Lioplax series of plastic colorants for blow, extrusion and injection molding applications.

John Easley, president, Toyo Ink Mexico and former production manager, LioChem plastic colorants division said the expansion demonstrates its commitment to the region and the plastic colorants sector.

The facility will give us the additional capacity and capability to service and supply our customers throughout the Americas with greater speed and flexibility​,” he added.

Once completed, the facility in Jalisco, will be Toyo Ink Group’s second plastic colorant manufacturing base in North America - 13 overall, spanning 11 countries in Europe, the Americas and Asia, including Japan and India.
